Autism Awareness Day

ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication and the presence of restricted interests and repetitive behaviors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates about 1.68% of United States children aged 8 years (or 1 in 59 children) are diagnosed with ASD (references). In light of a relatively high yield in patients with ASD, biomedical testing is recommended and can provide information regarding medical interventions or work up that might be necessary and help with family planning.

However, at R.E.D Laboratories we believe, like many other scientists and doctors, that genetic alone cannot explain such an increase of ASD cases in the recent years. The recent published literature and recovering cases studies is augmenting that a subset of Autism Spectrum Disorder patients is due to organic and environmental causes meaning that once identified a biomedical approach can be considered.

The most common cause of this disorders are:

Gut dysbiosis

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)

Low CD57 cells

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) higher

Lyme disease infections

Infections : Chlamydia, Mycoplasma and others

Cytokines : IL 8 incresed

High IL-17

Impaired immune system and presence of various toxins (mycotoxins, chemical and non-chemical toxins).

R.E.D. Laboratories offer a very large list of tests to address these issues
